Evolution of the Housing Ecosystem: How We Can Navigate the Ever-Changing Landscape of Housing

The Roanoke Regional Housing Network (RRHN) is hosting its biennial Housing Symposium on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 7:30AM – 2:15PM at Charter Hall at the City Market Building, located at 32 Market Square SE, Roanoke, VA 24011. This year’s Symposium is presented by Virginia Housing. Registrations accepted through April 16th 11:59PM. 

The event is titled “Evolution of the Housing Ecosystem: How We Can Navigate the Ever-Changing Landscape of Housing.” The keynote address for this event will involve an encompassing overview of the “Gateway Project” which will involve the development of workforce/affordable housing in the Southeast neighborhood of the City of Roanoke.

The event will also include a diverse array of presenters and panelists from various professional backgrounds and industries, who will cover topics relating to affordable/workforce housing development, housing market trends, local housing resources, community land trust efforts, homeownership assistance programming, services for vulnerable and underserved populations, and many more. The event will include the following:

• Registration and Breakfast
• Opening Remarks from the Virginia Housing Alliance
• Homeownership Presentation: Highlighting Local Non-profit Programs that Assist in Home-Buying
• Panel One: “Local Housing Resources” (including community land trusts, regional efforts, etc.)
• Panel Two: “Services for Vulnerable & Underserved Populations”
• Keynote Address, “Gateway Project Presentation” – featuring:

  • Ben Crew, Balzer & Associates
