The Council of Community Services was established in 1960 as a result of the efforts of over 70 community organizations who saw a need for comprehensive planning in the Roanoke Valley. Fifty-five years later, the council is a well-recognized leader in the community for organizations and individuals in the human services field. With a staff of over 53, the Council team provides consulting services focusing on community engagement, strategic planning, affordable housing, homelessness, HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention, information referral, and nonprofit organizational capacity building.
