ROANOKE VALLEY VIOLENCE PREVENTION COUNCIL

The Roanoke Valley Violence Prevention Council is a standing committee of the Council of Community Services. The RVVPC is an interagency coalition of professionals that includes human service agencies, attorneys, legal aid, police officers, and health care providers. The members work together to increase the resources available to deal with family violence, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking

The RVVPC’s mission is to engage professionals in a collaborative and comprehensive response to family violence, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking and to empower our community by raising awareness of these issues and the resources available.

The RVVPC operates with three goals:

  • To improve the knowledge base and collaboration of professionals in the Roanoke Valley dealing with issues associated with family violence, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking through education and training;
  • To increase public knowledge and awareness of family violence, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking issues and the resources that are available in the Roanoke Valley;
  • To strengthen and increase a more diverse network of community professionals serving on the RVVPC.

Activities

The RVVPC meets on the first Friday of each month at 12:30 PM at the Council of Community Services and Zoom.
